The Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare Department implements several schemes through the Directorate of Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare , Assam for the welfare of Tea Tribes and Adivasi community of Assam in different sectors, viz. Education, Health, etc.The Government of Assam created Tea Tribes Welfare Department in the year 2004 as Administrative Department vide Notification No.AR.32/2004/34, dated 21-09-2004.People belonging to Tea Tribes communities are spread all over the State of Assam and steps have been taken by the government for achieving socio-economic development of the Tea Tribes and Adivasi people.The Govt of Assam has been implementing various welfare schemes through a separate Directorate, viz.Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, Assam since 1983-1984 for speedy implementation of the welfare schemes.
